Communicating With Parents of ELLs

http://www.english-4kids.com

This is a wonderful website for students, parents and teachers! It offers worksheets, lesson plans, video tutorials and more! There is a flashcard section that I think would be helpful for students to use for checks for understanding. This websites provides resources for parents, teachers and students. I like that because during parent teachers orientation, I can show families how to easily navigate this site for optimal usage. With the videos, games and power points,I believe this will be a very interactive, engaging tool for students to practice english.

"Casa Notes is designed to allow teachers to quickly make, and customize, typical notes that are sent home to parents or given to the students. This is done by using templates and allowing the teachers to customize some of the content, choose a color scheme and add a graphic. The notes can then be printed on a black-and-white or color printer to be used. Teachers can select whether the notes should be in English or in Spanish."

Now this site is limited because it can only convert to Spanish, but I think that's a great start considering many of my ELL students have an L1 that is Spanish. It would be great if the site expanded to other languages, too. This could definitely help with parent communication of Spanish-speaking students, though.
